MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan Show hosted a debate between Knight Institute Executive Director Jameel Jaffer and Executive Director of the National Security Institute at the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University Jamil Jaffer. The conversation focused on two main questions: Is banning TikTok a national security priority or an attack on free speech? And do U.S. charges against Julian Assange threaten the free press? 

The segment came about after a recent Twitter exchange between the two Jaffers went viral and was featured as Politico’s Weekly Cybersecurity newsletter’s “Tweet of the Weekend.”

We might be biased, but it’s clear to the Knight Institute which Jaffer swept the debate.
