The Biden administration’s review of the use of social media identifiers in visa vetting
Documents released in our FOIA lawsuit for records related to the Presidential Proclamation 10141 Section 3 report.
On his first day in office, President Biden issued Presidential Proclamation 10141, titled “Ending Discriminatory Bans on Entry to the United States.” Section 3 of the Proclamation ordered the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and the Director of National Intelligence to conduct a review of the use of social media identifiers in the visa vetting process, including an assessment of the efficacy of this practice. This reading room contains all documents produced to date in Knight Institute v. Department of State, et al., a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit the Knight Institute filed on April 12, 2022, seeking records relating to that review.
