Lincoln Caplan
Lincoln Caplan was the Knight Institute’s senior editor. He is a senior research scholar and an occasional visiting lecturer at Yale Law School. Previously, he was the editor and president of Legal Affairs magazine, a staff writer for The New Yorker, and a member of the New York Times editorial board, where he wrote about the Supreme Court. He is a former Guggenheim Fellow and White House Fellow and a winner of the American Bar Association’s Silver Gavel Award for legal reporting and writing. He is the author of six books, including American Justice 2016: The Political Supreme Court and The Tenth Justice: The Solicitor General and the Rule of Law. Caplan is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School and was a Harvard Scholar at Cambridge University.
